For skinny jeans, as you all know, elastane fabric is a must — the more stretch, the better.
For straight fit, regular fit, mom jeans, and all fits that aren’t too baggy, 1–2% elastane or 100% cotton both work — but the fabric shouldn’t go heavier than 12–13 oz.
With elastane fabrics, even if the jeans run 1–2 cm small on the customer, they’ll keep wearing them because of the stretch. Return rates in retail go down.
The advantage of 100% cotton: elastane loses its elasticity after 4–5 years, whereas 100% cotton denim fades more characterfully over time and holds its shape.
For baggy jeans, 100% cotton anywhere from 12 to 16 oz is a perfectly valid choice. It really comes down to the customer’s preference.
If your design has heavy embroidery, print, resin or wax %100 cotton is always better because of its durability
