Tencel is a material used in denim similarly to lycra — for example, 20% Tencel, 80% cotton. It’s used more in denim shirts, but it’s also used in jeans.
Hand feel and drape — Tencel has a softer, slightly silkier feel than cotton and drapes better. In finished denim, this translates to a more fluid garment, less stiff. Very noticeable in fabric blends even at 20–30% Tencel.
Moisture management — absorbs and releases moisture faster than cotton, so more breathable to wear. Relevant for comfort positioning.
Color — takes dye well, can produce cleaner, more vibrant shades. Also holds indigo nicely in blends.
