Size charts that follow XS-S-M or 34-36-38 are typically graded with a 2 cm increment on the half-waist and 4 cm on the total circumference, but American sizing is different. Going from size 25 to 26, it is graded by 1.25 cm at half-waist and 2.5 cm (1 inch) around the total circumference, just like men’s pants. As with men’s pants, due to high-waist and low-waist styles, a size 36 in women’s pants may not measure the exact same total waist circumference across every model.
